Within the activities of Dubai BIM Roadmap Design and Implementation for Building Construction project commissioned by the Dubai's Building Permit Procedures Development Committee, which the GIS center is supervising its implementation several online meetings and interactive workshops were held that included the project team and the project consultant and a number of entities such as Dubai Municipality, Dubai Development Authority, the Department of Planning and Development- Trakhees and Dubai Land Department; in order to discuss the preparation of a road map for phasing building information modeling in stages; in order to achieve maximum benefits of modern digital methods and technologies, as well as to raise the level of customer satisfaction, speed delivery of building permits services and enhance the emirate's competitiveness in the Global Competitiveness Indicators.

In addition, the project team held online meetings with selected consulting and contracting companies working in Dubai to measure the BIM market readiness and possible cooperation.

The project team is currently working on three different aspects: (1) designing the BIM road map, (2) developing standards for building information modeling, and (3) developing an online BIM e-Submission platform for automated code compliance checking.
